Foot Care: Taking Care of Your Feet during Pregnancy with Q-Factor total insoles
Aches and pains are very common during pregnancy. Back pain, leg pain, swollen ankles, heartburn...the list just goes on and on. One of the most common complaints among expectant mothers is foot pain. The most common foot problems found in pregnant women are edema and over-pronation. Both of these conditions can cause heel, arch and ball-of-foot pain. Leg cramps and vein issues are also very common.
Edema is identified by swelling in the feet. Over-pronation is a condition that causes the ankles to turn in toward each other. This contributes to a flat arch and severe foot pain when walking.
There are several things that you can do to stay comfortable during pregnancy and alleviate foot pain. The following will help you calm your aching feet:
- Elevate - You should elevate your feet whenever possible. Take a break, put your feet up. This will decrease swelling.
- Footwear - Wear footwear that fits properly. Never wear footwear that is too tight or narrow.
- Measure - Your feet will change size often during pregnancy. Measure your feet periodically and adjust your shoe size throughout.
- Insoles - Wear Spenco Q-factor total support insoles. These insoles are created specifically for a woman's body and will give you the support where you need it.
- Stretch - Stretch your legs often if you are driving or sitting.
- Exercise - Walking is the best exercise. Be sure to exercise regularly throughout your pregnancy.
- Water - Drink plenty of water. This helps prevent fluid retention.
- Salt - Avoid salty foods as these can cause water retention.
If you follow all of these tips and wear Spenco support insoles, you will notice that your foot troubles are a lot less troublesome than they used to be. Pregnancy can take a toll on your health and on your feet. Be sure to take proper care of your body and your feet during this very special time.
